Gwyneth Paltrow has recently opened up about a mistake she did in the early days of her marriage to Brad Falchuk.
The Iron Man star and Glee creator reflected on their nuptials during an appearance on Goop podcast, which was released on September 9.
Gwyneth and Brad recalled they didn’t live together with their children for the first year of marriage.
Brad, who shares two children with ex Suzanne Bukinik, said, “One thing we did that was maybe a little bit different was, we got married and then didn’t move in together for a year.”
The Sense & Sensibility actress, who has two children from ex-husband Chris Martin, revealed that at the time, she and Brad thought they were “doing the right thing”.
“We were trying to kind of land the plane very, very gently and slowly and get everybody on board,” continued Gwyneth.
However, the Oscar winner mentioned she wasn’t sure that it “didn’t just prolong that thing of like, we don’t know what we’re doing”.
Brad also concurred with Gwyneth, saying that their decision to not live together in the initial year made “things more complicated”.
“I think them having agency is really important. But power, to actually keep these two adults from living together? I think it made them more uncomfortable and more like, ‘Okay, this is not something that is solid,’” explained the actress.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Gwyneth got candid about her “rough and rocky” time becoming a stepmother.
“Step-parenting is a pretty tricky arena. It requires a great deal of accountability, vulnerability, understanding your triggers and nothing quite seems to trigger somebody, especially women, like stepmothers,” pointed out the actress.
Meanwhile, Gwyneth also talked about her struggle to bring Brad into her children’s livesl in the past.
