Malcom-Jamal Warner’s untimely death had already saddened his family, friends and fans; new devastating details about his accidental drowning are emerging too.
Reportedly, the Emmy-nominated actor’s 8-year-old daughter was swimming with her father when he drowned during family trip to Costa Rica coast.
Police shared with ABC News Wednesday, July 23 that the local surfers spotted the visibly struggling father-daughter duo in the waters following which they dove into the ocean to help them.
Mike Geist the vice president of Caribbean Guard who is also a lifeguard instructor shared Tuesday, July 22, what happened on the tragic day.
He shared that Warner accompanied by some other people took surf lessons and then went back into the water.
Unfortunately, what followed was heart-wrenching.
Lifeguards spotted three people who needed help and were eventually taken out safely.
However, A Fare to Remember alum was missing.
“Another person that was on the beach with a boogie board went out to go and look for Malcolm because they learned there was a fourth person,” Geist narrated.
Warner was later found submerged in water and was given administered CPR, but he was already gone.
It was also shared that the spot where Warner had drowned at was a ‘highly active area’ that has ‘strong currents and generates many waves’, as reported by the President of the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce of the Southern Caribbean Roger Sanz.
