Kristen Stewart has spoken about the struggles she faced with her directorial debut project.

The 35-year-old helmed The Chronology of Water, which is a romantic drama based on the memoir of the same name written by Lidia Yuknavitch.

While talking about her first venture as director, Stewart revealed that it was not easy task to make this film, and she really had to struggle to get the project started.

The Twilight star recently appeared at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of her film, where she shared, “This was not without help. I needed to have a couple of public temper tantrums in order to get the right people to listen.”

“I have this stunning collaborator in Charles Gillibert, who [produced] On the Road, Personal Shopper, and Clouds of Sils Maria. He understands that [women] need help and we need a f****** leg up.”

“It took a long time to get this made. Yeah. It took forever”, added Kristen.

The Chronology of Water features Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Kim Gordon, Jim Belushi, Earl Cave and others.
